Album Review: Bodysnatcher – Hell Is Here, Hell Is Home (MNRK Heavy)

‘Hell Is Here, Hell Is Home’ is the fourth full-length from Melbourne, FL deathcore outfit Bodysnatcher. It is out on April 10th, 2026, via MNRK Heavy.

There’s something so refreshing about this new Bodysnatcher release and it all comes from the fact that it is so straight-forward. Ten tracks of absurdly heavy deathcore with manic groove and sounding utterly pissed off. It’s a ‘no gimmicks’ approach to the sound with one eye on the live side of things.

It’s so simple and so enjoyable because Bodysnatcher are so good at it and they have refined things to a sharp point here. They are pros at showcasing unrelenting savagery that has the power and potential to spin kick your face off, and not just at a live show. Across the album they deliver a cacophony of extreme sounds with riotous breakdowns and tons of circle-pitting, fist-flailing, two-step madness.

I’m not going to tell you that it’s game changing, nor do I think that it will win over any deathcore detractors, but if you love this kind of aggression in your metal, then you’re going to be in love from the moment The Maker threatens to bust skulls and break bones.

Are you scared? You fucking should be!

It’s an early highlight, mainly because of its absurd breakdown, but not alone as Plague of Flies also delivers the chunkiest of riffs, the beastliest of drums, and the harshest of vocals. Whereas that one goes the ‘hard and heavy’ route, the following May Your Memory Rot is personally more preferred as the faster tempo gives it more groove, and the vocals are at their most vitriolic sounding.

Later, the straight-up two-step driving beat of Violent Obsession, the bristling hostility of Blade Between the Teeth, and the daringly anthemic Two Empty Caskets also deliver headache inducing intensity. If there is one obvious take away from this album it’s the fact that Bodysnatcher’s focus was on hurting the listener, one way or another.

The last part of the album doesn’t change the formula, although it’s very cool to have Terror’s Scott Vogel guesting on the hardcore punk infused Survive or Die. Before Hell is Home guarantees that anyone who made it this far will be left feeling concussed.

It’s Bodysnatcher, refined, focused and raging, nothing more and nothing less.
