Single Slam: Brat, Blacktop Mojo, Burner, Noctule, Stay for Tomorrow, Ritual Error, Scene Queen, and Bury Tomorrow!
Today’s single slam features Brat, Blacktop Mojo, Burner, Noctule, Stay for Tomorrow, Ritual Error, Scene Queen, and Bury Tomorrow. You can read our thoughts about the latest singles from these bands below.
Brat – Manslayer (Hell Hath No Fury)
Louisiana deathgrind powerhouse, Brat, will release their new LP, Manslayer, on 25th September via Prosthetic Records. The quartet have revealed their first warning shot – the new single, ‘Manslayer (Hell Hath No Fury)’ and its accompanying music video, directed by John Colgan.
Well, how about this? Brat are back and they’re doing something a bit different, albeit with familiar grinding death-infused heaviness and intensity. This feels like the starting gun of a brand-new era for the band, adding more theatrics, and experimenting with their sound. It’s a heavy banger with daring horror elements delivered in a delightfully salacious way. The video is awesome too.
Blacktop Mojo – S.A.D.
Blacktop Mojo, the independent hard rock/alternative band from Texas, have released their new single, ‘S.A.D.’ (Song About Drugs). It’s the lead-off single for their new album ‘Discount Fireworks’, due out October 23rd.
Says the band:
Despite the title, it’s not a song glorifying drugs—it’s about the fear and paranoia of wondering if you’ve gone too far.
A foot-tapper that showcases what Blacktop Mojo do so well, which is potent rock intensity and big choruses, and that is what we get here. A track with hearty harmony, lyrical oomph, and enough singalong moments to appeal to a wide audience. They’re a great band and tracks like this prove it.

Burner – What Will You Give? (feat. Josh Middleton of Sylosis)
Burner’s new single ‘What Will You Give? (feat. Josh Middleton of Sylosis)’ is out now via Church Road Records. It is the third single taken from their forthcoming album ‘No One Is Coming to Save Us’, which is slated for release 25th September.
Says vocalist Harry:
I wrote this as a rallying cry for democracy, calling on the memory of the anti-fascists that struggled and died for freedom in the 20th century. As we experience backsliding and more extreme leaders coming to power, I wanted to confront and warn the listener. What will YOU do when this society we take for granted collapses around us? When the signs are increasingly clear, it’s up to you and me to fight for a future that’s belongs to the people.
After our 2024 tour with Sylosis, it only made sense to ask Josh to feature on this track. He brought such a raw energy to the hardest hitting point of the song, and it feels like a perfect pairing. Absolutely smashed it.
That’s three for three then, and once again, Burner team up with a talented guest who can hold their own when it comes to raging metallised hardcore power. This new track continues the album trend of delivering snarling, frantic, head-pounding, and gut-wrenching crossover noise. The breakdown into a two-step groove put a silly smile on my face.
Noctule – Lord of Blood
Noctule, the solo melodeath / black metal from Svalbard’s Serena Cherry, will release the new album, ‘Extinguish Thy Flame’, on September 25th, 2026. The first single ‘Lord of Blood’, is out now.
About the track, Serena says:
This song represents the joy and freedom of being in full control of the music you create, without having to make any compromises with bandmates or managers. I love creating music by myself and in Lord of Blood – I think that shows. This song is a celebration of pure musical independence; as well as an ode to the towering, horned demigod Mogh: Lord of Blood from Elden Ring. I’m proud that it doesn’t sound like anything else in the metal world right now. Honestly Lord of Blood has of my favourite guitar leads I’ve ever written. When it comes to making metal music, I just can’t resist adding layer upon layer of guitar harmonies.
Making black-focused melodeath with an epic twist (daringly powerful in fact), Serena Cherry’s solo project, Noctule is certainly unique. Her talent is unquestionable, but for those who only know her work in Svalbard, this kind of noise might surprise. Aggressive and intense, but only because of the heaviness and speed, it’s actually quite an uplifting track and to see Mogh get taken down is always a joy.

Stay for Tomorrow – Nonsense
Scottish alt-rockers Stay for Tomorrow have released their new single and video, ‘Nonsense’. The track is taken from their forthcoming album, ‘When Hope’s Gone’, due Friday 25th September.
A likable showcase of alternative rock that twists itself around time by sounding both retro and contemporary. The measured pace, layered melodies (driven by the keyboard), sharp vocal style, and shifting rock patterns makes for a cool listen. I dig it.

Ritual Error – New Slime
Ritual Error’s sophomore effort, ‘Terminal with Benefits’ will arrive in September via Totality. The first single ‘New Slime’ is out now.
A very creative slice of noise, Ritual Error build on their punky racket with a new single that keeps things weird and wonderful. Not quite one thing or another, but recognisable even with their experimental style. It is quite something to find a track with such abrasive elements also be so catchy.
Scene Queen – Metalicious (feat. Left to Suffer)
Watch out: Scene Queen is back and she’s putting the METAL in ‘Metalicious’. Your favourite Bimbocore singer is back with her latest anthem, and it features none other than fellow metal superstars Left to Suffer. Scene Queen is also gearing up to release a full EP this fall – also aptly titled Metalicious. The EP is slated to arrive 11th September and fans can pre-save it here.
Speaking about the new single, Scene Queen shares:
‘Metalicious’ featuring Left to Suffer is what happens if a tumblr indie sleaze club song was written in metal font. The song takes you through girls night at a metal show. The band is heavy, the drinks are flowing, and the girls are whipping their purses in the moshpit.
On the upcoming EP, she adds:
‘Metalicious’ the EP is as chaotic recession pop, y2k – coded, metal madness. I wanted an EP that was as fun to make as when I was writing the Bimbocore volumes and making music was fresh and new to me. In the spirit of Bimbocore, I experimented with the pop influences, but this time the heavy parts are the heaviest they’ve ever been. From deathcore features, to me laying down some of my lowest screams yet, this EP was as fun to make for me as it sounds through out. Yes there’s some trauma dumping in there, but it’s a SCENE QUEEN EP so what do you expect?
I don’t think it’s too much of a surprise to hear Scene Queen continue in her heavier direction here, but what might surprise is that this track isn’t that special. I know, it pains me to say that, but her bar is so high that something as ordinary as this is notable. It lacks sharpness, it lacks hooks, it lacks that Scene Queen sparkle, even a deathcore section that should be cool, sounds utterly generic (sorry Left to Suffer). This one isn’t for me, I’m afraid.

Bury Tomorrow – Sx
Following four acclaimed albums with Music for Nations/Sony Music and eight albums in total, Bury Tomorrow enter the next chapter of their career with explosive new single ‘Sx’ and the launch of their own independent imprint, Dea†h Records.
Short for Symptom, ‘Sx’ explores the complexities of the human experience and the daily struggle between light and darkness, certainty and doubt. It reflects the understanding that life isn’t defined by absolutes, but by spectrums. Every person carries both beauty and burden, and we all have parts of ourselves we’d rather keep buried.
Speaking of the track, Dani Winter-Bates says:
Sx is the perfect way to introduce this new chapter. It’s about grappling with the good and the bad every day, realising that none of us are entirely one thing or another. Life exists in shades, not absolutes, and we all carry bones we bury deep.
A new era, same Bury Tomorrow, although considering how many evolutions they’ve been through, I’m not sure what that really means. Aside from the fact that it’s a track with heavy bite, a track with metalcore energy, a track with anthemic intensity, and a track that’ll get stuck in the head for ages afterwards. Banging stuff.
