EP Review: Poison The Preacher – Things I Want (Seek and Strike)

Following the acclaim for their debut album ‘Vs the World’, Columbia’s Poison the Preacher return with ‘Things I Want’. The new EP will be released on July 17th, 2026, via Seek & Strike.

I like this band. Their genre-blending ways turned my head when I heard ‘Vs the World’ and this new EP keeps the momentum strong with four heavy, Latin-infused, energised bangers.

You know things are going to be wild when you see a ‘ft. Speed’ next to a track title, and that is what we get with the feral Things I Want. An opener with hardcore aggression, two-step excitement, and a thick infusion of thrash and death metal. An instant hit.

Although there’s nothing to complain about with the brilliant Last Time I’ve Seen the Sun, and the thrilling Ran Out of Options. Both tracks show off the more unique aspects of Poison the Preacher’s sound, while being undeniably coarse and pleasantly addictive.

A short and sharp punch to the mouth, the record is over far too quickly, but at least it goes out with a mighty bang, courtesy of Chicken Out. Chances are you’ll be head banging as hard as you’re two-stepping. I love it!
