Today’s single slam features Future Palace, Space Pistol, Triggertone, Lumens, HANABIE., Moskito, Of Virtue, The Cartographer, Massive Wagons, and Amon Amarth. You can read our thoughts about the latest singles from these bands below.
Future Palace – Tidal Waves
Germany’s Future Palace will unleash their forthcoming fourth album ‘Resurgence’ on 31st July via Century Media Records. The album is a powerful exploration of isolation, inner conflict, and the struggle to rebuild oneself. The new single, ‘’Tidal Waves’, is out now.
Future Palace continues to show just how far they’ve come with this latest track, a powerful rock ballad that oozes personality and emotion. A track that is all about Maria’s vocals and she puts her all into delivering potency. It’s clearly quite a personal track but it’s one that many will be able to relate too.
Space Pistol – I Can’t Sleep
Alt-Power Trio Space Pistol’s momentum continues to grow as following their singles ‘Space Pirate’ and ‘Devil in the Deep Sea’, they are back with their latest offering ‘I Can’t Sleep’.
Delivering mighty tunes consistently, there’s no denying that Space Pistol are on a bit of a roll, and this latest single punches hard. Not only a bit meatier sounding, but a bit more chaotic sounding, albeit with their undeniable penchant for experimentation and their undeniable ability to be catchy.

Triggertone – Bombs Away
Belfast alt heavy rock outfit Triggertone have announced a brand-new 4-track EP called ‘Bombs Away’ and have released the title track from it.
With potent grungy elements combined with a foot-tapping and finger-snapping rock sound, Triggertone’s new single is memorable. In particular, the raw edge it has and the way in which two contrasting vocal styles work off each other nicely.
Lumens – Cyber
Adelaide based metalcore unit Lumens unleash new single ‘Cyber’, out via Wild Thing Records.
A modern metalcore band with fire in the bellies, Lumens break away from the pack with a new single that doesn’t follow expected metalcore conventions. That alone makes it more interesting, but the overall moodiness, technical flourishes, and screamo bursts really make it worth checking out.

HANABIE. – Life Is Short, O Brave Girl
Japanese Harajuku-core sensation HANABIE. have released their new digital single, ‘Life Is Short, O Brave Girl,’ alongside its music video. The track serves as the opening theme for the upcoming anime series Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games.
HANABIE. doing what HANABIE. do so well. Delivering a sharp and chaotic blast of speed and heaviness that comes with J-pop infectiousness. They’ve got stronger tracks, but if you’ve liked everything they’ve done before, you won’t be disappointed here.
Moskito – Run it Back
Moskito have returned with their new single ‘Run it Back’, a powerful reflection on nostalgia, growing up and the rapidly changing world around us.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, guitarist Joe Desmond shares:
‘Run It Back’ was born from a lonely night spent reminiscing about simpler times and reflecting on how much our town, culture and technology have changed in such a short space of time. I remember walking through the countryside for hours, wondering what kind of world the next generation will grow up in, scribbling down snippets of childhood memories and expanding on them later until they eventually became the lyrics.
There’s definitely an element of concern in this song. Alongside the urgency of the riffs and instrumentation, lines like ‘Save me, we’re lost in the age, this digital age. Liberate ourselves from these self-imposed chains’ capture that feeling of suffocation that can come from constantly chasing digital validation.
Beneath all the angst, though, is a longing to be that kid again and, more importantly, for kids to simply be allowed to be kids. The snapshot of your youth stays with you forever, and I think everyone would love the chance to run it back, even if it’s just for one day.
Moskito are back and this new chapter is sounding very creative based off this blast of hyperactive, tension-driven, and intense music. Delivering a contemporary sounding piece that combines experimentation with a drive to get everyone up and moving.

Of Virtue – The End
Michigan metalcore outfit, Of Virtue, have today their highly anticipated new album, ‘Death of the Altar’, set for release on 2nd October via Arising Empire. The first single, ‘The End’, is out now.
More of a grower than an immediate shower, this new Of Virtue track is one that gets better on multiple listens as you start to unpick the layers. There’s a simplicity to this one that allows you to shut down and move to it, while appreciating the roller-coaster experience that comes from varying degrees of intensity.
The Cartographer – Blood
Derbyshire modern deathcore powerhouse, The Cartographer are set to self-release their debut album, ‘The Collapse of a Bitter End’, on the 18th of September. To celebrate, they have released the lead single ‘Blood’.
About the track, the band states:
This track is about someone who feels falsely accused or manipulated, snapping into anger and fantasising about taking power back and destroying the other person emotionally.
A long time coming but immediately proving that it has been worth the wait, The Cartographer’s debut album is going to be mighty fine, and the proof comes via tracks like this. A feral and ferocious blast of modern deathcore that feels downright threatening at times. I dig it.

Massive Wagons – Story of My Demise
Following the outstanding success of ‘Everywhere We Go’, Massive Wagons return with their brand-new single, ‘Story of My Demise’, available now on all digital platforms.
As consistent as ever, Massive Wagons’ new single is a body shaking and foot-tapping catchy rock tune. Filled with life and love, it’s a smile-inducing infectious effort. One that isn’t going to change the world, but delivers on all of Massive Wagons’ promises.

Amon Amarth – Upphaf
Iconic Swedish heavy metallers Amon Amarth approach a new way of songwriting on their first-ever acoustic excursion ‘Upphaf’.
In recent time I think you could say that Amon Amarth have been stagnating and that creativity has been in short order, even if their output has been solid. I say this because it’s genuinely heartening to hear them try something so different, nail it, and still sound like Amon Amarth. You can tell that they really thought about this one and it pays off.
