Horror Short Review: Look Alive (2026)

Written & directed by Amanda Prescott, with impressive cinematography by Jennica Kyes, Look Alive is a horror short with a familiar concept, but an original monster.

In fact, the monster is an original character created and designed by Amanda Prescott. It’s called Jester’s Scream and it’s very creepy looking.

A young woman, post birthday celebrations, is cleaning up when she gets an unexpected visitor. Backing away in fear, she quickly realises that if she keeps her eyes on it, it won’t move. Can she escape?

As I said, there’s nothing original as far as a story and concept goes, but the monster looks great, it’s shot professionally and acted competently. I also really like the fact that we don’t get an ending, so to speak, leaving the rest up the imagination.
