Album Review: Necrosexual – Road To Rubble (Black Metal Archives)

Creatures of the night, Philadelphia’s Necrosexual have been rampaging through the metal underground with their blend of heavy metal, thrash metal and horror punk since 2011. Now, on February 27th, 2026, and via Black Metal Archives, the group led by The Necrosexual himself, will release ‘Road to Rubble’, their brand-new album.

I dig a lot of what Necrosexual have to offer, and having followed them for a few years, it’s great to hear them reach such an apex here. Road to Rubble is a very strong release, featuring nine head banging, gurn-inducing, tongue-in-cheek party-punk and metal anthems that will appeal to all the deviants of the world.

Kicking off in noisy, raw, and wriggling fashion, Necrosexual’s showcase of riff-driven heaviness and putrefying punk intensity makes for a garish opener. High Times in Hell indeed, and The Necrosexual’s shouted vocals add even more potency. It’s an attention grabber for sure, but The Brimstone Brothel’s thick lathering of horror and punk is where it’s at. The side of Necrosexual that has always appealed to me more. Especially when it’s delivered in such an experimental and anthemic way as it is on Kiss the Knife. This track might be the album’s strangest, and most compelling, as it has a carnival feel. Just not the kind of carnival most ‘normal’ people would want to end up at.

You’re coming, right? You’ll find it hard to deny the pull, especially when it comes with a screaming and frenetic guitar solo near the end.

Lubricator is up next, and you won’t have to take a deep breath before this one slides in as it is so easy to enjoy, King Diamond howls and all. Things then get even more sinister sounding with Twilight Drifter Intermezzo, before one of the album’s strongest anthems arrives in an explosion of dangerous excitement and energy via a punchy instrumental section and commanding vocals. All Roads Lead to Rubble, where the story-telling chops are notable, and such fun.

There’s only ever going to be a certain type of ‘love’ song to come from Necrosexual, and unsurprisingly Damned Romance deals with the darker side of things, albeit with a chorus that will have plenty singing along, alive or dead. Alongside Hard Leather Woman, a potent showcase of the sleazy side of the band that will leave the listener stinging as though they’ve been whipped, and Nocturnal Ignition, where things get old-school in heavy rock fashion, it’s a very strong end to the album. Classic Necrosexual nonsense that is so appealing, especially as this is an album with refined elements.

Liking Road to Rubble might be seen as a bit of a kink, but remember, we don’t shame here. You’re as much a deviant as I or The Necrosexual is, so be proud.
