Album Review: Consolers – Deep Breaths (Self Released)

Consolers, the Belfast-based alternative rock band, will release their debut album, ‘Deep Breaths’, on 20th February 2026.

A creative listen with tons of interesting elements, driven by powerful vocals that come with heartfelt depth, Deep Breaths proves to be an apt title. All because you’ll have to take some as you might find you end up holding yours several times throughout.

It’s a very addictive listen and from the start, they grab the attention with their exciting and listenable style. Opening the record with the catchy Inhale and showing off the strength that comes from the groovy instrumental side when combined with soaring, smooth pop-infused vocals.

The bassy thrum of Watcher is very cool, but the way in which this track rocks up is what makes it memorable. Whereas Sink On In’s melodies (retro-twisted) stick in the mind, Left to Prove is effortlessly lovable, and Down shows a more forlorn side that will touch a soul or two. Consolers proving to be more layered than first expected.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing ‘game changing’ as far as alternative rock music goes, but that hardly matters when what they have to offer is so enjoyable. A sure sign of that being just how quickly it flies by with Make Me Feel and Play taking us past the halfway point in dreamy, vivid, and potent fashion.

Personally, one breathtaking moment comes in the latter half with the pleasant Town. Here, Consolers show off vibrant catchiness via a chorus you won’t be able to stop singing along to. The vocals really are amazing.

I have very few complaints about Zombie Jesus Day either. Where Consolers get a bit livelier. Nor do I find myself not enamoured with the moody vibes of Boiled Over and the chorus-driven retro feel of Driving Me. Consolers wrapping up a very satisfying experience in a striking way. It’s a debut album to remember.
