Single Slam: Lamb of God, Blanket, RØRY, Firmament, and Rob Zombie!

Today’s single slam features Lamb of God, Blanket, RØRY, Firmament, and Rob Zombie. You can read our thoughts about the latest singles from these bands below.

Lamb of God – Parasocial Christ

Lamb of God have released ‘Parasocial Christ’, a relentless three-minute assault that once again pairs the Richmond metal titans with longtime producer Josh Wilbur.

Vocalist Randy Blythe shares about the themes behind the track:

The Information Age has birthed the attention economy, an industry worth hundreds of billions of dollars anchored in keeping eyeballs firmly glued to screens, thus generating ad revenue. Every second spent clicking and scrolling through the trivial and/or sordid details of other people’s lives, people that you will most likely never meet – celebrities, politicians, influencers – is another dollar in some already obscenely wealthy tech bro’s wallet. You are a product, and you are being sold in a marketplace you have no share in. The irony of you reading this via some social media platform or music news aggregator site is not lost on me; nevertheless I hope this song might make you consider who and what you give your attention to. Fuck the clickbait, put down the phone and go live your life – it’s waiting for you out in what’s left of the real world.

I’m digging this reenergised Lamb of God, not just because the tracks they are putting out are so savage, but because they sound so refined and focused. This new single isn’t complex, but it goes hard, has flashes of groove, and makes a strong point. It’s the kind of track liable to cause some serious carnage in the pit, which is what all the best Lamb of God tracks are capable of.

Blanket – True Blue

Expanding on the lush atmospheres and emotional depth that have defined their sound, Blanket will release their new album ‘True Blue’, on 16th January via Adventure Cat Records. The band have also released their title-track single, alongside a new music video.

Blanket have always been capable of crafting music with emotional depth and value, but here, they seem to have polished their sound to make the atmosphere more notable. The alternative gaze-infused energy has potency, and as it goes on, it becomes more emotionally intense. Check it out here.

RØRY – Dead Girl Walking

The evolution of RØRY continues. The critically-acclaimed alternative artist has unveiled her new single ‘Dead Girl Walking’, a track that represents strength, confidence and the inextinguishable fire that’s fuelling her ascension through the alternative scene.

Speaking on the new single, RØRY has a very simple message:

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks… allow me to fucking disagree.

An artist that speaks to so many, and continues to find new ways to do this, I feel like RØRY no longer needs an introduction as her name is synonymous with modern alternative music. Yet, even then, she surprises as this track is a vibrant melding of genres. As well as being anthemic as hell, having powerful lyrics, and using varied electronics (I do wish they weren’t used on the vocals though), it also happens to be heavy in places. The rise of RØRY is downright unstoppable.

Firmament – Cry for the World

Firmament, the five-piece metal band from Nottingham, UK, have released the new single, ‘Cry for the World’. Taken from their upcoming EP ‘Ashes & Awakenings’ due for release in January 2026.

This is huge sounding, and not just because the vocals soar with so much impressive power. It’s because the riffs make the body shake, the melodies touch the soul, and the chorus proves to be so damn anthemic. It’s a crowd-pleaser. Check it out here.

Rob Zombie – Heathen Days

Rock/metal icon Rob Zombie has revealed the latest single, ‘Heathen Days,’ from his highly-anticipated upcoming album, The Great Satan, due out February 27th from Nuclear Blast Records.

Super short, but super impactful, the sense that this might be the heaviest, rawest, and most metal-orientated album that Rob has released in some time is growing. This is a really punchy and punky effort with groove to boot. I can take or leave most of Rob Zombie’s music, but I dig the hell out of this one.
