Weekly Review Roundup: Monday 29th September 2025 – Friday 3rd October 2025

From powerful alternative rock and intense crossover metal, to grinding and blood-soaked ferocity, to textured post rock, overwhelming death metal, and whatever the hell Evil Scarecrow are. We’ve reviewed some great releases this week, and here’s our weekly reminder of what has been covered.

Beauty School – From Now On (Slam Dunk Records)

This is as good as it gets, as far as a modern showcase of accessible alternative rock goes. Especially alternative rock that comes with tender and heartfelt emo tones, nostalgic pop-punk energy, and driven radio rock focus. It’s not just a triumphant Beauty School release; it’s a triumphant rock release.

Arson Charge – A Dying Light (Anxious & Angry)

Arson Charge, a potent combination of metallised groove, thrash, hardcore, and punk. What might end up surprising people though, is that this debut is quite varied too. Arson Charge have a wide array of talents and aren’t afraid to experiment in places. A kick ass band making some seriously kick ass music.

Besta – John Carpenter Redux (Raging Planet Records)

Paying homage to the master of horror, John Carpenter Redux is one for the horror and heavy fans. Not just because it comes splattered in blood and because it is a violent slab of grinding intensity, but because it has a raw and angry nature that makes for a tense, but cathartic listen.

Post Heaven – The Space That’s In Between (Greyscale Records)

Pushing their alternative ways to more eclectic and electrifying heights, this new release is highly textured and features big melodies, impressive ambience, potent post hardcore intensity, and so much more. Four excellent tracks. Varied, exciting, and so damn memorable.

Evil Scarecrow – Silicon Tea (Deadbox Records)

They’ve been making us happy for a long time now, and that isn’t going to change once the wide and varied fanbase wrap their ears around this brand-new album. In fact, there are some tracks on this album that will make the smile seem downright manic, such is the width it will grow too.
