Horror Short Review: The Ruins (2025)

From Night Terrors comes The Ruins, a horror short that comes in at under two and a half minutes. Focusing on a young boy whose explorative ways gets him in trouble.

While out walking in the woods, he comes across an abandoned building and like all youngsters, decides to break in and see what is inside. However, once inside, he discovers getting out isn’t as easy.

Unsurprisingly, there’s not a lot of meat on the bones of this one, which is a shame as there’s some talent involved, especially with a variety of shots on show. Alas, while it does build up intrigue, it doesn’t really go anywhere, ensuring that it’s unlikely to last long in the memory. Not a bad short, and not a good short, and at two and a half minutes long, it’s over so quickly that it’s probably worth a watch.
