Electric Callboy – Still Waiting (Sum 41 Cover)

Germany’s unstoppable powerhouse Electric Callboy have unleashed their latest surprise – a high-octane cover of Sum 41’s 2000s punk-rock anthem ‘Still Waiting’. The release is more than just a cover – it’s a dream collab. With Frank Zummo (Sum 41 drummer, currently playing with Electric Callboy) behind the kit.

The band comments on the new single:

Sum 41 has been with us since our youth, and Still Waiting was one of those songs we grew up with. When Frank Zummo helped us out at the festivals in Australia, we spontaneously played the song live for the first time. When it became clear that Frank would be accompanying us on drums at the European festivals, the idea was born: we would go into the studio with him and record the song our way. It’s just crazy to work with someone whose band we used to celebrate so much. We hope you celebrate the song as much as we do!

One of Sum 41’s best songs given the Electric Callboy treatment… are you surprised it’s a banging cover!? To be honest, it’s such a straight-forward cover, given a bit more of a heavy bite and using electronica in places to add a different vibe, that there’s not a whole to say here. It’s an anthem and Electric Callboy do it justice.

Withered Land – Revenge of the Fallen

‘Revenge of the Fallen’ is the new track/video and third single from upcoming full-length album ‘Hall of the Dead’ from Belarusian fantasy/black metal band, Withered Land. The story of a fallen warrior who sets out on a journey to distant lands in search of just retribution for the destruction of his homeland.

As black as the darkest night, as wicked as sin, and as epic as the concept promises, Withered Land’s new single is huge, and suitably intense. Much of which comes from the vocals, but as sinister as they are, the layers of fantastical instrumental symphonic power is what leaves a mark. It’s an incredibly textured song and feels half its length, which is the sign of something special.

Swarms UK – Talk Shit Get Hit

Swarms UK, the hardcore/beatdown band who are making waves in the underground UK scene, are back with a brand-new track called ‘Talk Shit Get Hit’. A ferocious statement of defiance and respect, perfect for fans of Kublai Khan TX, Knocked Loose, Street Soldier, and Bound in Fear.

With a reputation for bringing the noise, Swarms UK remind everyone just why they are such a hot prospect in the UK slam/hardcore scene with a track that will leave you seeing stars. Violently heavy, the varied tempos adds a thick vein of danger, the vocal roars are downright demonic, and the breakdown at the end is the kind that will have you looking for your teeth in the pit. Killer stuff.
