Bloodstock 2025 Band Feature: HeKz
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s Bloodstock time and 2025 is looking to be one of the best events the festival has ever put on, if we’re judging it by bands… which we are, of course.
Taking place at Catton Park, Derbyshire from August 7th to August 10th, Bloodstock Festival 2025 has not only sold out all its weekend tickets, but it also sold out day tickets for the Saturday and the Sunday and it seems likely that Friday will follow suit before the festival actually starts. Boasting a lineup that includes the likes of Emperor, Lacuna Coil, Ministry, Mastodon, Fear Factory, Static-X, Nailbomb, Kataklysm, Obituary, and headliners, Trivium, Machine Head, Gojira, and so much more spread across four stages, it’s going to be one hell of a weekend.

HeKz
HeKz is a force to be reckoned with in the world of rock and progressive metal. Formed in London, this dynamic quartet has carved out a unique sound that blends the thunderous energy of metal with the intricacy and emotion of classical music. Known for their powerful compositions, captivating performances, and a distinct fusion of influences, HeKz stands at the forefront of modern progressive music.
HeKz has released a series of critically acclaimed albums that showcase their evolution as musicians and songwriters. Their most recent album, ‘Terra Nova’, has been hailed as their most ambitious and accomplished work to date, earning praise for its innovative sound and compelling storytelling. With a growing international fanbase and a reputation for electrifying live performances, HeKz is poised to continue their rise as one of the most exciting bands in the progressive metal scene.
HeKz is not just a band; they are a musical experience—a fusion of raw energy, technical prowess, and emotional depth that resonates with listeners across the globe. As they continue to push the boundaries of their genre, HeKz remains committed to creating music that challenges, inspires, and moves their audience, both in the studio and on the stage.
A HeKz show is an immersive experience, which anyone who has seen them live can attest to and they might be one of the most unique bands playing the Timothy Taylors New Blood stage all weekend. Make sure you’re there on the Saturday to experience the richness that is HeKz, chances are, you will be transformed by what you see and hear.
We asked them what it means to play the festival this year, what Bloodstock overall means to them, and what attendees can expect from their set. This is what they had to say:
Playing Bloodstock this year is incredibly meaningful. An early incarnation of HeKz performed on the New Blood Stage back in 2010. The band has changed a lot since then, and it has always been a dream of mine to return to BOA. The band is firing on all cylinders and is better than ever, by every metric. Now is the perfect time to show the Bloodstock faithful what we’re all about. Huge shout out to Simon and the team for their trust and for giving us this wonderful opportunity.
A HeKz show is an immersive experience. We’re not just going to hit you with a bunch of songs. We’re going to tell a story and take you on a journey with us. Some folks might be a bit put off by the ‘prog’ label, expecting a bunch of demonstrative noodling, but that’s not HeKz. We’re a metal band at heart, and we like to be a bit adventurous sometimes, but there are also choruses you can shout along with and riffs you can headbang to without needing a maths degree. Plus, we have an electric violin. What’s not to love?
I have attended Bloodstock many times as a punter, going back to its early days as an indoor festival and seeing bands like Power Quest, Children of Bodom and HammerFall for the first time. It’s a fantastic event run by a dedicated team of passionate metal fans, and that shines through. There’s a reason why BOA is the premier metal festival in the UK.
