Comic Review: Necrosexual Encounters #2 (Written by The Necrosexual / Illustrated by TOXIC)
Based on trve events in the life of the most electrifying man in corpse entertainment, The Necrosexual, Necrosexual Encounters #2 is the latest chapter of the graphic novel series and features 32-pages of outrageous antics, tales of exquisite excess, and riff-fuelled follies. Written by The Necrosexual Encounters and illustrated by Philadelphia comedian TOXIC. This chapter follows 2022’s The Insatiable Necrosexual #1 (read our review of that chapter here).

It has been a while since I checked in on The Necrosexual, but I’m pleased to report the man is as deviant and dark as ever, but also still with his tongue jammed firmly in his cheek. The character can be very silly, but that doesn’t make it a joke. Nor should the music that The Necrosexual creates be diminished by the wacky aspects of the character. Music rooted in thrash, black, and punk (a new LP ‘The Road to Rubble’ is coming soon).

Necrosexual Encounters #2 tells 2 stories, both as silly as the other. First, we have Necrosexual vs The Sun. Yes, you read that right. What beef does The Necrosexual have with the sun? The same beef every corpse-paint wearing person has with the sun, it’s too bright. Just how kvlt are you!? It’s a very entertaining read and the imagery leaps off the page thanks to TOXIC’s magical pen. I particularly liked the full-page imagery of The Necrosexual ‘relaxing’ in the fridge even if it left me wanting to taste some ‘thiccc boi bacon’.
The second story is Necrosexual in Bang the Drum Deadly, taking a common problem for a band (no drummer) and ramping it up to absurd levels. Do you want to know what The Drum Golem is? You’ll have to read to find out!

Here, we get variations on the imagery, including much busier looking panels and more colour tones. It’s another great looking story, even if it isn’t quite as fun as the first. I will admit to being thoroughly amused by the use of LimeWire to defeat a giant, sentient drum machine. I am of an age where I can thoroughly relate to the destructive powers of LimeWire. RIP family computer.
It’s all good fun, and that is what The Necrosexual embodies. I’m looking forward to hearing what comes next from the talented man, but for now, we can all at least enjoy looking upon his visage in comic book form.
