EP Review: pMad – Trust Devoured (Self Released)
pMad, the post-punk and gothic rock artist, has joined forces with UK/USA’s Lunar Paths and Australia’s Killtoys for a unique musical venture. One that brings together three artists from across the world to create something greater than the sum of its parts.

Inspired by the classic parlour game ‘Exquisite Corpse’ – in which each person adds their piece without seeing what the previous person drew – the 3 artists challenged themselves to apply this concept to their own songwriting.
pMad’s 3-track EP from the project is called ‘Trust Devoured’, and it drops on July 19th. It comprises pMad’s own song ‘Feed’ – the percussive piece that kick-started this whole collaboration – and two further interpretations, ‘Closer’ featuring Killtoys, and ‘Celestial’ featuring Lunar Paths.
I love collaborate efforts like this and when it involves someone as talented as pMad (I’m not familiar with Killtoys or Lunar Paths), I’m sold. The EP features pMad’s Feed, a track we should all be very familiar with now, and a track that continues to have a lot of potency. A solemn, thought-proving effort that sees the eclectic artist change the vibe in subtle, but interesting ways. It’s a slower and darker song from pMad, and still so likable.
Closer is next and this one features Killtoys. Showcasing the goth tones of pMad’s voice with dramatic melody and subtle electronica. It’s completely unpredictable, but surprisingly compelling. A great example of how different artists can come together to create something valuable. Which is the case also with Celestial, which features Lunar Paths and is a gorgeous example of melody-focused post that has deep emotion running through it.
What a fantastic collaborative effort this is.
