Horror Short Review: The Door (2025)

Written and directed by Alexander Seltzer and starring Tanaya Betty, Raymond Ablack, and Mercedez Gutierrez, The Door is a chilling, thrilling, and emotional horror short.

Emotion that is there from the start as we see a woman in the throes of grief, doing everything she can to move forward following the disappearance of her child. Unsurprisingly, she is struggling and then a mysterious door that wasn’t there before appears. What lies beyond? She must know, but getting in isn’t easy.

A very creative short that sets the imagination racing, The Door’s strength comes from the unknown and Alexander Seltzer utilises this well. You might think you want to know what’s beyond the door, but do you really?

It’s creepy, but not overtly so, piling on the emotion and even having some minor humorous touches. This makes it more real, and the cast handle the demands well. Combining genuine wonder with fear, while showcasing the intense drama that surrounds the loss of a child. It’s a very watchable experience, stylish and powerful, and one that pays off the time investment.

Check it out yourself below, it’s worth it.
