Bloodstock 2025 Band Feature: Compounds

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s Bloodstock time and 2025 is looking to be one of the best events the festival has ever put on, if we’re judging it by bands… which we are, of course.

Taking place at Catton Park, Derbyshire from August 7th to August 10th, Bloodstock Festival 2025 has not only sold out all its weekend tickets, but it also sold out day tickets for the Saturday and the Sunday and it seems likely that Friday will follow suit before the festival actually starts. Boasting a lineup that includes the likes of Emperor, Lacuna Coil, Ministry, Mastodon, Fear Factory, Static-X, Nailbomb, Kataklysm, Obituary, and headliners, Trivium, Machine Head, Gojira, and so much more spread across four stages, it’s going to be one hell of a weekend.

Compounds

There can only ever be one winner of a region’s Metal 2 the Masses and those winners aren’t chosen unfairly. Everyone works their asses off to prove to Bloodstock that they belong at the festival and can bring it come August, but there can only be one. Southampton’s one? It’s only bloody Compounds, a melodic hardcore punk band who promise to turn the New Blood stage into a swirling and whirling pit of chaos.

It’s going to be f**king great, but the clues have been there since 2022 when the band released their album, ‘Event, Experience, Effect’. While there hasn’t been much music released since then, the band has worked hard to nail their live show and it is that what has got them to Bloodstock this year. It’s going to immense, and maybe a bit painful.

So, we asked them what it means to play the festival this year, what Bloodstock overall means to them, and what attendees can expect from their set. This is what they had to say:

We’re absolutely blown away to be Southampton’s very first Metal to the Masses representatives and have the opportunity to play at Bloodstock. There’s so much talent on the south coast, so it was a real honour to be part of the competition, and every round was such a fun experience. We’re going to do our best to make everyone proud!

We’ll be bringing upbeat energy and a few breakdowns to get people moving and having a great time. We always give 100% onstage, and there’ll be plenty of opportunities to get stuck in if you’re up for a little mosh to some speedy melodic hardcore. We love to jump into the crowd and join in too, but we’ll have to see if we can make it over the barriers…

Bloodstock is such an important part of the UK alternative circuit, giving local talent and upcoming bands a chance to perform with international heroes. We’re a completely DIY band doing this because we love music and performing, and now we get to play a festival with bands that were on the very first ‘modern’ metal CD I bought (in 2004!). That’s exactly what the heavy music scene should be about!
