A first-person horror walking simulator, Caretaker wants to be clever and interesting but misses the mark by some distance.

Some games don’t quite get the love and admiration that they deserve. These are the 10 most underappreciated video games of the decade.
Drowning is about depression and tells its story from the perspective of a young man who struggles with it. Is it clever? Yes. Is it thought provoking? Yes. Is it a good game? No.
An interactive story, or as it’s better known ‘a walking simulator’, Virginia’s strength lies in its fantastic movie like soundtrack and its initially gripping story. I say initially because for 2/3 of the game, you won’t be able to turn away but the game drops the ball hard for a disappointing, confusing and unsatisfactory final third.
Winning a BAFTA for best game in 2017, What Remains of Edith Finch is centred on the character Edith Finch. It’s revealed that she’s the last in the Finch family line which have a perceived curse. They believe that it causes all but one member of each generation to die in unusual ways.
Each death is played out in a short gameplay sequence to the player. The game is presented as an anthology of these mini-experiences, wrapped in the dramatic retelling of the family’s history and fate through Edith’s narration.
Kholat offers up its own dark explanation of the mysterious, unsolved death of nine hikers in the Ural Mountains on February 2nd, 1959. A premise that could make for a chilling and scary horror game. Sadly, the end result is mind-numbingly boring and incredibly ineffective.
Steppy Pants is a walking simulator, yep, that is a thing, that jumps on board the currently popular naming convention like Crossy Road or Flappy Bird and the like. Silly name aside, developers Super Entertainment have put out a simple game that is frustratingly addictive.
N.E.R.O. or Nothing Ever Remains Obscure is a first person adventure game based on puzzle solving and exploration. In the game, you traverse through a magical world. Throughout the journey you’ll discover floating pieces of dialogue that slowly unravel its sorrowful tale.
