Game Review: Afterparty (Xbox One X)

Set in Hell, you play as best friends Milo & Lola. Unaware of how they died and why they ended up there, it’s up to you to help them try to return from the afterlife. Their only hope is to gain an invite to a party at Satan’s in order to challenge him to a drinking contest. There’s only the nine circles of hell in the way, sounds easy right?

Game Review: Broken Age (Xbox One)

A throwback to the point & click games of old, Double Fine’s Broken Age is a smart, fun and funny game that will delight as many as it will infuriate. Infuriate as it has the kind of puzzles that often seem so random but that feeling when you solve a particularly tricky one is so gratifying.

Game Review: What Remains of Edith Finch (Xbox One X)

Winning a BAFTA for best game in 2017, What Remains of Edith Finch is centred on the character Edith Finch. It’s revealed that she’s the last in the Finch family line which have a perceived curse. They believe that it causes all but one member of each generation to die in unusual ways.

Each death is played out in a short gameplay sequence to the player. The game is presented as an anthology of these mini-experiences, wrapped in the dramatic retelling of the family’s history and fate through Edith’s narration.

Game Review: Submerged (Xbox One)

Submerged is an indie game developed & published by Uppercut Games, it released in 2015. From a third-person perspective, you control a young girl named Miku. As Miku, you explore a dystopian future where global warming has flooded the world. Submerged was made by a team of former BioShock developers and was chiefly inspired by Journey and Shadow of the Colossus.

Game Review: Abzû (Xbox One)

Abzû is an adventure video game developed by Giant Squid Studios. A studio made up of many of the creative minds behind Journey. If that alone doesn’t make Abzû sound like something worth playing then hopefully my review will do just that.
