Horror Movie Review: Murder Made Easy (2017)

Murder Made Easy is a horror/thriller inspired by Agatha Christie’s “Murder on the Orient Express” & Alfred Hitchcock’s “Rope”. Written by Tim Davis, directed by David Palamaro & starring Jessica Graham and Christopher Soren Kelly as Joan & Michael. A couple who are have invited their friends for dinner. All under the guise of remembering the passing of Joan’s husband, Neil who died one year previously.

Unfortunately for their guests, Joan & Michael have more than dinner planned. As each guest arrives, dark secrets are revealed and the main course turns out to be murder!

Murder 2

That’s about as much of the plot as I can reveal as this is a story that you don’t want spoiled! It’s story is fantastically well-written with some genuinely surprising, entertaining twists & turns. From the moment it starts to the moment it ends, Murder Made Easy draws you in & doesn’t let go.

A lot of this is thanks to the incredible pairing of Jessica Graham and Christopher Soren Kelly. A pair of actors that have excellent chemistry. The rest of the cast are great too, each character feels fully formed. You believe that they have lives beyond this dinner party & each has defining characteristics that make them stand out well. They’re all so unique.

Murder Made Easy combines a serious & dark subject with some well-placed tongue in cheek humour. It’s not a comedy but it has many moments that will make you smile (such as the séance).

Murder 3

If all of that wasn’t enough to indicate that this is a special film; then the impressive use of music, scene changing menus, great cinematography & thrilling finale will cement that. Director David Palamaro gets the little details right, the little things that show just how much love went into this project.

Murder 4

Once the film ends you’ll want to watch it again just to see the clues you might have missed (there are a few). Not only that you’ll be thinking about it & telling everyone you know about it. Surely there is no better sign of a great film then that? One of the best horror release of 2017.
