Game Review: Tower Run (Mobile – Free to Play)

From regular mobile developer/publisher Voodoo comes Tower Run. Yet another bare bones, lacking in longevity, free to play offering that is stuffed with ads.

Called Tower Run, the concept is as simple as you might expect. Press the screen at the right time to jump and make a tower of humans. Get to the goal with the biggest tower possible to earn coins which currently, as of version 1.11.3 are useless. There’s no store, nothing to spend them on. You just earn them and that’s that.

As of right now it means the game has very little replay value after about 5 minutes. You’ll try it out, get annoyed by the mechanics and then even more annoyed by the constant ads.

The lack of depth to the gameplay is expected but is still constantly disappointing. The jumping mechanics work ok but the timing is too precise resulting in a surprising amount of failures. The taller the tower, the tougher it becomes to land a perfect jump and you’ll need the tallest tower to complete the level. Failing would be less of a problem if you didn’t have to sit through an ad straight afterwards.

Such is the laziness of this game, even writing a decent amount of words for a review is hard. There’s such a lack of content, even for a Voodoo game. That might seem par for the course within the free to play market but it has become an excuse for simply not trying.

You shouldn’t expect much when you see the name Voodoo but this is a poor show even by their standards.
