EP Review: Noxis – Expanse of Hellish Black Mire (Rotted Life)
For their first official release, Cleveland death metal trio, Noxis, deliver an all caps style of DEATH METAL constructed with ferocious intensity but also with meticulous control and craftmanship. Sure to appeal to fans of Tomb Mold, Undeath, Blood Incantation, and pure, brain melting death metal. Expanse of Hellish Black Mire is out on October 30th 2020 digitally and on 10” vinyl via Rotted Life with the 12″ and CD version released by Pulverised Records.
Evil spreads through your mind as Noxis arrive with a sickening bile-infested four-track offering in Expanse of Hellish Black Mire. The sonic representation of the pus that is squeezed from a pulsating boil on the backside.
It’s as disgusting as you can possibly imagine but surprisingly appealing. Probably because Noxis aren’t adding any frills. Instead they focus on delivering the strongest of filth and a ton of encouraging chaos.
